U Dumpling House To Replace Beloved Framingham Eatery Uncle Cheung's

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Diners in Framingham have been assured for the last 40 years that a stop at 266 Worcester Rd. would guarantee them top-level Asian food. That is likely to remain true moving forward, but at a different restaurant.

After celebrating 40 years of business earlier this year, Uncle Cheung's — which specialized in dim sum and was beloved among allergen-concerned eaters — will be no more.

Now, a new restaurant, U Dumpling House, is poised to take the mantle and the space at 266 Worcester Rd.

U Dumpling's owner, Feng Li, was present at a June 26 Board of License Commissioners meeting in which the commission approved a license transfer from Uncle Cheung's to U Dumpling. Li also owns the Aoi Japanese Restaurant on Worcester Road, which has been in business since 2014.

According to U Dumpling attorney David Scimone, the company is currently under contract to purchase the building at 266 Worcester Rd. That purchase was largely pending approval of the license transfer.

There are plans to lightly remodel the building after a purchase is complete, but no major alterations are coming, Scimone said.

The business's proposed hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. U Dumpling will be able to seat 85 people at one time, according to a business application.
