Capen Hill Trip Wildly Entertaining
South Grafton Elementary School youngsters learn about nature.

During the week of May 14, the rain held off and the first graders at l enjoyed their field trip to Capen Hill Nature Santuary in Charlton.
The children attended 3 “classes” at the sanctuary and enjoyed a brown-bag picnic lunch near the barn.
At the pond, the students each used a net to scoop up and discover some of the native plants and insects found in the pond. On their hike through the trails at Capen Hill, they were able to learn about different kinds of flowers and plants.

Inside the Visitor's Center, the students learned about the animals and birds that call the sanctuary home. Some of those animals included, a turtle, a white dove, a blue-tongued skink, a chinchilla and a ferret.
The staff at Capen Hill gave the children lots of hands-on experience and education about the beautiful surroundings at their 86-acre property. They offer summer programs and welcome visitors any time. More information is available at www.capenhill.org.
