Town officials are sharing news on Facebook and Twitter, with more technology-based efforts expected.

Grafton town officials are spending more time on Facebook and Twitter.

The town is sharing more news through social media to "augment traditional forms of communication," and plans to do more technology-based initiatives over the next year, Town Administrator Tim McInerney said Wednesday in a press release.

The town's Facebook page is Town of Grafton, MA. The town's Twitter account is @TownofGraftonMA.

"Social media is now a prevalent form of communication used by government, business, and individuals," McInerney wrote.

"The Town is looking to engage residents and interested parties via a form of communication that they are already using, providing added convenience to residents."

Future initiatives will "include but are not limited to a web-based solution to replace almost all paper based permits and licenses required by the Town, and applications that will enable residents to report non-emergency issues via their mobile device," McInerney wrote.
