Work done at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Grafton helped saved millions of cattle worldwide and potentially change the future of east Africa. Their research helped rinderpest become only the second disease, after smallpox, to be declared officially eradicated.

A Grafton woman charged with stealing more than $250 in gifts from a wedding reception she and a companion crashed returned to court this week _ but only briefly.

Summer N. Igoe, 32, of 309 Providence Rd., #2R had her case continued to July 25.

She has been charged with larceny from a building, larceny over $250 and conspiracy.

She was arrested in connection with the theft of a box of gifts intended for a newlywed couple at their wedding reception May 21 at Wachusett Country Club in West Boylston, according to police reports.

A traffic signal is needed at Brigham Hill and Providence roads, Planning Board members say.

They are urging selectmen to support them in their quest to get a light placed at the intersection, which they say will become even busier when the new opens in September 2012.

The Grafton Farmers Market opened its third season this week with a successful start on the Common. The market offers residents and visitors a chance to purchase locally grown produce. This helps to support area farms and encourages residents to eat healthy.
