Grafton Man in Serious Condition After Rollover Crash

Police responded to the crash on Institute Road just before midnight Thursday.

A 24-year-old Grafton man remains in serious condition after getting into a crash Thursday night.

Michael Shaughnessy was driving on Institute Road near Westborough Road late Thursday when he crashed his car, police said.

According to police reports, a caller came across an overturned vehicle with the male subject lying in the road.

"On their arrival, officers found a vehicle in the roadway and a male subject with serious injuries lying in the street. Responding personnel searched the vehicle and surrounding area but were unable to locate anyone else," a report from Police Chief Normand Crepeau Jr. said.

Police are still investigating the incident, but they believe Shaughnessy was driving northbound before he struck an embankment and rolled over. The vehicle landed on its wheels in the southbound lane.

Shaughnessy was transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester, where he was listed Monday afternoon in serious condition.
