Grafton-Valley Tech Hockey Team Tours State house

State Rep. David Muradian recognized the boys' hockey team this month for their Division 3A state championship win.

GRAFTON, MA – Rep. David Muradian, Jr., a Republican from Grafton, welcomed the Grafton-Valley Tech boys' ice hockey team to the State House this month to celebrate their Division 3A state championship win. The 28 players, along with head coach Michael Binkoski and assistant coaches Dave Wooten and Andy Gauthier, were treated to a tour of the State House and recognition for their success last season.

Following the tour, the team had a pizza lunch in Nurses Hall, where Muradian sat and spoke with the players.

"I am not only happy, but also very proud of the Grafton-Valley Tech boys' ice hockey team," Muradian said in a release. "Their commitment to athleticism and sportsmanship is an achievement that we should all aspire to. Congratulations to the players and coaches who are now Massachusetts Division 3A State Champions."

State Sen. Michael Moore, a Democrat from Millbury, also stopped to speak with the team and congratulate them on their win.

"These young men certainly have a lot to be proud of," Moore said in a release. "I commend the entire team and their coach for a fantastic season. It was great to welcome them to the State House, and to have their achievement recognized in the House Chamber. I wish them the best of luck with all future pursuits—both on and off the rink."

The Grafton-Valley Tech boys' ice hockey team is comprised of students from both Grafton high School and Blackstone Valley Regional Vocation Technical High School. Grafton-Valley defeated South Hadley 4-0 on March 15 to take home the Division 3A state championship.

"We want to thank Mr. Muradian, Mr. Moore, and their staffs for hosting us," Binkoski said. "It truly was a special day for these student-athletes to be at the center of the state of Massachusetts. It was an experience that we will never forget."
