Lights at Depot Street Bridge?

Town is looking at options.

Installing traffic lights at the Depot Street Bridge is one option to ease traffic concerns there, Town Administrator Timothy McInerney has said.

The bridge has currently reduced to one-way from Ferry Street and Maple Avenue to Route 122.

The move was the result of a sidewalk closing on the Depot Street Bridge. The sidewalk is crumbling and state and town officials determined it posed a potential hazard to pedestrians and motorists.

Installing lights would allow the bridge to again accommodate two-way traffic by controlling the direction of the traffic flow.

In the long term, the town may test the bridge and the affected sidewalk to see what repair work could be done.
