Prisby Wins Selectman Seat: Grafton Town Election Results

Here are the results for the annual Grafton town election.

GRAFTON, MA—Grafton residents got out the vote on Tuesday, choosing officials for town government and school committee.

The annual town election took place on Tuesday, May 15, with polls open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The two contested races this year were for Board of Selectmen and The Planning Board.
Jennifer Davy, Ed Prisby and Dennis Perron battle it out for the one three-year-seat for selectman. Michael Scully, Sharon Carroll-Tidman and Robert Hassinger are seeking three-year seats on the Planning Board: there are two available.

The results (a "W" denotes winner):

Board of Selectmen (three year term, vote for one):

  • Jennifer Davy: 168 votes
  • Dennis Perron: 736 votes
  • Edward Andrew Prisby: 761 votes (W)

Planning Board (three year term, vote for two):

  • Robert Hassinger: 822 votes
  • Michael Scully: 924 votes (W)
  • Sharon L. Carroll-Tidman: 822

Note, since Hassinger and Carroll-Tidman tied, there will be a recount.

Town Clerk (one year term, vote for one):

  • Kandy Leigh Lavallee: 1,334 votes (W)

School Committee (three year term, vote for two):

  • Peter Carlson: 1202 votes (W)
  • Laura Often: 1123 votes (W)

Board of Library Trustees (three year term, vote for three):

  • Douglas Bowman: 1,067 votes (W)
  • Aaron Vandensteen: 966 votes (W)
  • Martina Arndt: 1,031 votes (W)

Housing Authority (five year term, vote for one):

  • John Kelley: 12,38 votes (W)

There were eight questions on the ballot, mostly housekeeping charter-related questions involving wording. All of them passed, easily.
