Severe Thunderstorms Possible

The National Weather Service reports that severe thunderstorms are possible in southern New England this afternoon and evening.

Severe weather is most likely from 3 to 7 p.m. from Hartford and Springfield to Worcester and Boston. 

More thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening as a cold front drops south from Canada. Some of the storms may be severe, with damaging winds as the main threat.

Torrential rainfall in a short period of time may result in rapid flooding of urban and poor drainage areas and may result in poor visibility on the roads.

Anyone outdoors should seek shelter at the first sign of threatening weather. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
