Snow Storms by the Numbers

Had enough snow this winter? Imagine if you had to pay the town's bills.

Selectmen this week approved spending in excess of the budgeted $150,000 for fiscal year 2011 snow and ice removal.

Here's how it looks so far:

$150,000: Budgeted

$190,000: Spent, prior to the Feb. 2 and 3 snowstorms. During that time, there were:

27:  Sanding events

7: Plowing events 

$400,000 to $500,000: The amount estimated by Town Administrator Timothy McInerney that will be spent before the storm season ends, "factoring in there will likely be more events in February.''

$380,000: The previous high total for snow and ice removal
