The remainder will be paid by the Massachusetts School Building Authority's Green Repair Program.

But the state requires  the town to approve the entire amount for the project, even though town residents will not pay that entire amount.

Special Town Meeting voters will be asked to approve $252,000 for the roof and $254,424 for the boiler.

The state has already approved paying the remainder of the boiler cost.

They will make a decision on the roof repair at their July meeting. Local officials have said the roof work will not be done without the state reimbursement.

The delayed vote means the roof work will have to be done while school is in session. Parking, though, should not be an issue by then, Superintendent of Schools Joseph Connors said.

The boiler work must be done by Oct. 15, the date when school buildings are mandated to have operational heating systems.
