Tufts Competing in Breast Cancer Awareness Viral Video Competition

If you saw a human-sized pink glove running after an oddly dressed man through the Tufts' Grafton campus this summer, don't worry: it was all for a good cause. 

The scene was one captured for the veterinary college's entry in Medline's "Pink Glove Dance," competition, aimed to spread breast cancer awareness.

You may vote for Tufts' video once a day until Nov. 2.

The school's entry is one of 260 that is in the running. The first, second, and third place winners will receive $10,000, $5,000 and $2,000 (respectively) to the charity of their choice. Tufts has chosen UMass Memorial Medical Center's Comprehensive Breast Center as its charity.

Three years ago, Medline produced the original Pink Glove Dance video to raise breast cancer awareness, and it is has since generated more 13 million views on YouTube and inspired pink glove dance videos and events around the world. Medline launched its first nationwide contest last year, and is continuing with the contest again this year.

About 90 people at the Cummings School participated in the video, which is set to the song, "Evacuate the Dance Floor."

Karen Monahan, supply coordinator for the Cummings School, rode a horse and a golf cart as she chased a black-clad character bearing the letter "C" for cancer.

"We said, 'Oh my God, we want to do this,'" Monahan told the Grafton Daily Voice. "It's a morale booster, and it's a great cause."
