Voters Approve New Election Date

Town elections are now later in May and on a different day.

Town Meeting voters approved a at Monday’s Town Meeting.

They approved without discussion and virtually unanimously a change of election date from the first Monday to the third Tuesday in May.

The issue now goes to the state attorney general’s office for official approval, Maureen Clark said.

The change was made to a Tuesday for consistency, since Tuesdays are generally when state and federal elections are held.

The date was pushed to later in the month to allow the sitting boards in town to complete their terms through Town Meeting, which is held the second Monday in May.
