The goal of the fundraising project is to have a World War II monument for dedication on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

“Many people talk about how as time passes we are rapidly losing our connection to those who served in World War II,” Grafton Historical Society President Linda Casey said in a prepared statement. ”Members of the Historical Society’s Research Committee have been compiling short biographies of those 19 Grafton residents who died in action while serving in the military, and it was discussed that the town doesn’t have an outdoor monument dedicated to our World War II veterans. We think it’s about time we corrected this oversight.”
