Colby College Welcomes South Hamilton Resident to Class of 2019

Lily M. Lake is one of 508 members of the Class of 2019.

A South Hamilton resident has enrolled as part of Colby College’s Class of 2019.

Lily M. Lake began classes at Colby on Sept. 9. Prior to that, she took part in a week-long orientation that included a civic engagement component in downtown Waterville, Maine, where Colby is located; an introduction to academic and intellectual life at Colby; and an address by Associate Professor of Philosophy and Hegel Scholar Lydia Moland at Colby’s 198th First-Year Convocation. A graduate of Pingree School, Lake is the daughter of Philip and Julie Lake.

Colby College is located in Waterville, Maine. This fall’s class has 508 members and was selected from the largest and most academically qualified pool of applications in Colby’s 202-year history.

The class includes 33 Presidential Scholars, 23 Bunche Scholars, and 20 students from the United World Colleges. Eleven percent of students in the class are from Maine, 12 percent are international, and 21 percent are domestic students of color.
