Hamilton, MA - It's another busy month lined up at the Hamilton-Wenham Public Library in April.
Here's a look at some of those events:
Wednesday Night Bookclub April 6, 7:00. Join Dede McManus as we discuss Operation Mincemeat: How a Dead Man and A Bizarre Plan Fooled the Nazis and Assured Allied Victory a nonfiction work written by Ben Macintyre in 2010. “Filled with spies, double agents, rogues, fearless heroes and one very important corpse, the story reads like an international thriller.” -Amazon Hardcover, large print and audio copies are available at the library.

Seminar for Seniors & Their Families Saturday, April 9 at 11:00. The Wenham Council on Aging, in conjunction with The Heritage Law Center, presents Matthew Karr, Esq, who will speak and take questions on the topic of “Estate Planning for Seniors and their Families.” This informative talk provides guidance on preparing for effective estate planning, asset protection, and long-term care planning strategies to ensure seniors goals and decisions are respected. Free and open to the public, no registration necessary.
Allegro Dance Ensemble Performance Saturday, April 9 at 2:00. Allegro Dance Ensemble, the resident company of Hamilton-Wenham School of Dance, will perform an original ballet called Briar Rose. The ballet tells the story of Sleeping Beauty. After the performance, children will be invited to take a short ballet lesson, learn a dance and have time for free dancing. This program is open to the public and free of charge, no registration necessary.

Brain Building for Infants - 3rd Graders Tuesday April 12 from 6:00-7:30. This FREE event is geared for children ages infant through 3rd grade and their families. Come to the Hamilton-Wenham Library and enjoy music with Peter Stewart, arts, crafts, and activities galore as you visit tables hosted by local community groups and schools.
There will be something for everyone! Presented in cooperation with Early Childhood Partners/Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant.
It’s Not How Smart You Are, it’s HOW You Are Smart! Friday, April 15 at 10:30. A successful person is not always someone who is 'book smart'. Multiple Intelligence theory suggests that the traditional notion of intelligence, based on I.Q. testing, is far too limited. Instead, eight different intelligences more appropriately account for a broader range of human potential. These intelligences are: Linguistic, Logical-Mathematical, Spatial, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Musical, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, and Naturalist. What's your strength? How does it impact aspects your life? Find out! Deirdre Budzyna is from the Northern Essex Community College Speakers' Bureau, and has been funded by the Friends.
Self-Defense Workshop Tuesday, April 19 at 7:00. Tashi Deb, 5th degree black belt teaches: *Basic awareness *Avoiding Confrontation *Simple techniques for escaping. This workshop is suitable for ages 10 to adult. Designed for the average person, this program has been fine-tuned for over 17 years. Please come in comfortable clothes, and bring a friend! Participants receive handouts for at-home practice. Free and open to the public, funded by the Friends of the Library.
