Elderly Woman Dies in Wenham Crash

An Essex woman died Wednesday after a morning crash in Wenham.

According to a statement from Wenham police, the single-car crash occurred Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. on Essex Street near Grapevine Road.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a car that left the roadway and struck a tree on the opposite side of the road. The 83-year-old driver was transported to Beverly Hospital by ambulance where she later died from her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation but the preliminary investigation led police to believe the driver may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.
