Five Things You Need to Know for the Week Ahead in Hamilton-Wenham

From deadlines to important meetings to fun events, here's a snapshot of a few things to keep in mind this week in Hamilton-Wenham.

  1. Trash pickup: Hamilton curbside trash pickup will be delayed by one day this week due to the Veterans Day holiday.
  2. Veterans Day: Schools, town offices and the library will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. (For more, see “Veterans Day: What’s Closed, What’s Open in Hamilton-Wenham”). A wreath-laying and ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Cheeseman Field (Pingree Park) and an another wreath-laying and short ceremony will follow at 11 a.m. at the Veteran’s War Memorial (downtown Wenham).
  3. Hydrant flushing continues: The Town of Wenham will be flushing hydrants through Nov. 17. This could lead to some discoloration of your water. For more information, see “Hydrant Flushing Begins Tuesday in Wenham.”
  4. “Write-Ins” at the library: In honor of National Novel Writing Month, the Hamilton-Wenham Public Library will be hosting “write-ins” on Saturdays throughout the month. On Nov. 14, writers are invited to come to the library for writing sessions from 10 a.m.-3:45 p.m.
  5. Soccer tourney play: The HWRHS girls’ soccer team is headed to the semifinals in the MIAA North Division 3 tournament. The Generals face North Reading Tuesday at 7 p.m. at home. Come out and support the Generals.
