Gordon College Ranked Among Top Liberal Arts Colleges in the Nation

U.S. News and World Report ranked Gordon College among the top liberal arts colleges in the nation.

Gordon College, located in Wenham, tied with a number of other schools for No. 158 on U.S. News and World Report’s 2016 list of top national liberal arts colleges, which was released this week.

According to a press release, the rankings considered data from nearly 1,800 colleges and universities throughout the country in order to build a number of specialized lists. The report acknowledges that there are intangible factors to an excellent college that cannot be measured by data, but “for families concerned with finding the best academic value for their money, the U.S. News Best Colleges rankings provide an excellent starting point for the search.”

The schools, like Gordon College, that are ranked among national liberal arts colleges ”focus almost exclusively on undergraduate education” and “award at least 50 percent of their degrees in the arts and sciences.”

Massachusetts placed a number of schools on the liberal arts list, including No. 1 and No. 2, which went to Williams College and Amherst College, respectively. Wellesley College tied with a number of other schools at No. 4.
