Hamilton's NBA Star Rookie to Host Local Basketball Camp for Kids
NBA Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams will host a hometown basketball camp for elementary and middle school players in August.
Michael Carter-Williams, the 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year from Hamilton, plans a hometown basketball camp for youth next month.
The camp will run from Aug. 12-14 at Ipswich High School from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. It will be open to players entering grades 1-9 and cost $180 per child and $90 for additional siblings.
Carter-Williams will take part in all three days of the camp, helping with drills and refereeing games, according to a poster publicizing the camp.

The camp is being organized by Carter-William’s mother, Mandy.
Carter-Williams attended Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School as a freshman and then transferred to St. Andrew’s School in Rhode Island, where he was named the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior. He attended Syracuse University and decided to turn pro after his sophomore year. He was drafted at No. 11 in last year’s draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and the point guard won Rookie of the Year honors this past season.

The camp will include competition drills and skills sessions plus lunch for each athlete. All of the campers will get an autographed group picture with Carter-Williams and a Carter-Williams Starz T-shirt.
