60+ MPH Winds, Crashing Temps To Follow Monday Storm: See Latest Forecast
The National Weather Service is forecasting tree damage and power outages across the region on Monday night.
MASSACHUSETTS — Tree damage and power outages are possible Monday night as temperatures crash and winds gust to 60 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS issued a High Wind Watch for northern Middlesex County and Worcester County, and points west, beginning late Monday through Tuesday night. The NWS said on Monday morning that additional wind alerts will likely be needed for much of southern New England.
Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected with gusts to 50 to 60 mph.

Temperatures will rise early on Monday after a period of icing overnight, with highs near 50 degrees south of Boston. Some prolonged icing may continue far north and west of the city, where temperatures are slow to climb through the 30s.
It will turn much colder and harsher on Monday night with a low of 22 degrees. The wind is expected to dry roads and prevent flash freezes.

Tuesday will be a cold and very windy day with a high of only 27 degrees and wind gusts to 48 mph.
Winds will calm on New Year's Eve with some snow showers possible. The NWS is forecasting little to no accumulation.
Any snow should end early enough for New Year's Eve celebrations. For those partaking in outdoor activities, it will be mostly cloudy and cold with a low of 19 degrees around midnight.
New Year's Day is looking mostly sunny and cold with a high of 24 degrees.
