Hamilton does not plan to conduct hydrant flushing this fall since the town remains under a water restriction.

The Wenham Water Department plans to begin flushing fire hydrants on Tuesday.
A post on the Town of Wenham website indicates the activity will being Tuesday, Nov. 3 and continue until Nov. 17. Crews will conduct the work between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

“The discoloration of the water is only temporary and does not indicate a problem with the water,” a message from the town reads. ”If your water does become discolored, turn on an outside faucet to clear the water line before doing any laundry or cleaning.”
The Water Department will continually monitor the quality of the town’s water throughout the flushing process.

Hamilton Director of Public Works Bill Redford said Hamilton will not be flushing hydrants this fall as the town remains under a water restriction due to the low levels of the Ipswich River. He said the town typically skips the fall hydrant flushing when a water restriction is in place.
