No Injuries in Wenham Weekend House Fire

Officials say an accidental electrical incident may be the cause.

WENHAM, MA - No one was injured in a house fire Saturday night on Longfellow Road, but the home appears to be a total loss.

Units were dispatched to 21 Longfellow Road at 9:54 p.m. Saturday night. When they are arrived, flames were visible coming from the house and the structure appeared to be fully involved, according to a joint statement issued by Police Chief Thomas Perkins and Fire Chief Robert A. Blanchard.

Officers spoke to a male resident who said he was the only person home at the time and that no one else was inside. He was not hurt, and no firefighters were injured battling the fire.

Wenham firefighters, with the assistance of the Hamilton Fire Department, were able to knock the fire down after about an hour.

It’s not currently known what the total estimated damage is to the property.

The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation by the Wenham Police and Fire Departments, but an initial investigation indicates that an accidental electrical incident appears to be the cause of the fire.
