Have you run before? If so, when?: I currently serve on the school committee. I was appointed in October 2016 to fill an open seat.
Why did you decide to run?: My interest in serving is guided by my desire to ensure that Hamilton-Wenham continues to provide the best education and opportunities for the current and future children in the school system. I am one of the town’s many stakeholders with three young children, one of whom is currently in kindergarten at Buker, and the other two whom will be enrolled in the school system in 2018. I want to make sure that over their next 15 years of primary and secondary education, and beyond for future generations, that Hamilton-Wenham continues to build on its strong track record as one of the best school systems in the state.
What do you hope to accomplish in this position?: In a tight budget environment, we need to make sure we are fiscally responsible, but above all, we need to make sure we continue to provide the best education for our kids. I will be a strong voice in ensuring that the curriculum is maintained at the highest level possible. Specifically, I will be an active advocate for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) as well as the arts.
