Red Cross Seeks North Shore Hero Nominations
The 13th Annual Heroes Breakfast will honor heroes from across Essex County next spring. Nominations are being sought now.

The American Red Cross of Northeast Massachusetts is seeking nominations for its local heroes award ceremony in the spring.
The heroes will be recognized at the 13th Annual Heroes Breakfast on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Boston North Shore in Danvers. Nominations can be submitted online at www.RedCross.Org/ma/Peabody by calling 978-922-2224 or by writing to American Red Cross, 85 Lowell St., Peabody, MA 01960.
The breakfast will recognize heroic individuals and organizations who have exemplified the mission of the Red Cross during the past year. It is one of the largest events on the North Shore, according to the Red Cross, which expects 600 attendees from the business and nonprofit communities.

Nominations can be for someone who has saved a life, made the community a safer place or gone above and beyond to help someone in need. Nominations are being accepted for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding courage, generosity and service to others. All heroes must either live or work in Essex County or their heroic act occurred in the county.
The following categories will be honored at the 2015 event:

• Enduring Hero: A person who has made a difference in the community by engaging in many different activities over a long period of time.
• Community Hero: An individual, couple, or family “Good Samaritan” involved with an event, project or on-going effort that directly benefits the community.
• First Responder Hero: A firefighter, police officer, EMT or other first responder who has performed an act beyond the call of duty.
• Youth Hero: A student (elementary, middle, high school or college) who demonstrates leadership qualities, or is involved with an event, project, or ongoing effort that directly benefits the community.
• Workplace Hero: An organization that has demonstrated unusual leadership and commitment to the community.
• Military Hero: A member of the Armed Forces who acted above and beyond the call of duty.
The nomination deadline is Friday, Jan. 16, 2015.
