A reader wrote in this question yesterday: "Why are Girl Scout cookies $3.50 in New Hampshire but $4 in Massachusetts?"

Patch went straight to the source - the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts headquarters in North Andover and found out.

According to Cindy Campbell of GSEM, it all has to do with who bakes them.

"The reason for the price difference is because N.H. uses a different bakery than GSEM," Campbell wrote in an e-mail. "They use Little Brownie Baker and GSEM uses ABC Baker. Pricing is based on how much the baker is charging the council.  From that, the council sets the price."
