One click is worth a thousand words.

The maps below show part of what Hingham looks like, by the numbers and by the block. The maps below will tell you:

Map: Which Low-Income Families Are Without Plumbing?

People normally don’t think of water scarcity as being a problem in the U.S. but, in fact, about 10 million people lack access to clean water in developed countries.

Those living below the poverty line are the most likely to be affected. According to recent estimates, that’s one in six Americans.

Map: How Are Veteran Communities Changing?

About 200,000 enlisted men and women leave the service every year, and that number is set to increase as the draw down in the Middle East continues. And while close to 80 percent of veteransare homeowners, many of the younger veterans are finding housing unaffordable despite some Veterans Affairs home loan options available to them.

Map: What Part of Town Has the Most Post-Graduate Degrees

Nationally, there's been a huge increase in the rate of people seeking post-grad degrees: much faster than the growth of undergraduates.

Between 2002-12, people holding doctorate degrees increased by 45 percent, while those who held a master's grew by 43 percent. Those with a master's or doctorate degree number 22.7 million and comprise roughly 11 percent of the total population.

Map: Where Are Grandchildren Living With Grandparents?

The number of grandchildren living with their grandparents spiked during the Great Recession. It rose 6 percent between 2007 and 2008, partly because grandparents often served as a safety net for their families during hard economic times.
