1. Hingham's 31st Annual Christmas in the Square is on Friday, Dec. 13.
"Bring family and friends for traditional holiday merriment - music, crafts for kids, caroling in the street, horse-drawn hayrides & more. Friday night starts at 6:00 pm, Santa arrives along with live music and the Festival of Trees."

3. Another cold but clear one. The National Weather Service forecasts a high of 29 degrees with winds 11 to 17 miles per hour. Slight chance of snow early Saturday morning with a low around 15.

The day before, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a statewide recount of ballots in Florida was unconstitutional. Democratic candidate Al Gore won more popular votes, but lost by five electoral college votes.
