Driver Arrested In Deadly Stolen Car Crash In Hull
Police say the driver took off after crashing into a pole, while the passenger, Michael Peters, 52, did not survive the crash.
HULL, MA — One person was killed after a stolen car crashed into a pole in Hull Thursday night, and police say one suspect is now in custody after an overnight search.
Karl Sault, 40, of Hull was located by police Friday afternoon at a nearby address on Avenue Drive and was placed under arrest.
On Thursday at 10:09 p.m., police received word of a stolen car from an autobody shop on Nantasket Ave.

A little after, a police officer near the scene of the crime saw a vehicle that matched the description of the stolen one, traveling in the opposite direction of his cruiser.
The officer turned around to follow the suspected vehicle, but as soon as the car turned from George Washington Boulevard to Rockaway Ave, the car crashed into a pole.

Police say the driver - later identified as Sault, immediately ran away from the crash, but the passenger sustained serious injuries. The officer tried to give the passenger first aid, but police say they died at the scene.
Officers searched the area, and a helicopter was reportedly used to help look for the runaway driver.

Around 1:20 p.m., the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said a man has been arrested in connection to the stolen car.
The DA identified the victim of the crash as Michael Peters, 52, of Hull.

The officer at the scene was not injured but was transported to a hospital for an evaluation, and has been placed on paid leave during the investigation.
Sault is expected to be arraigned on charges of domestic assault and battery, breaking and entering, and intimidation of a witness on Monday in Hingham District Court.
