Gauging Hingham's Development Possibilities

Mixed retail? Senior housing? Office development? Where do you see different areas of Hingham heading?

As part of the town's master plan discussions, Timothy G. Reardon, Assistant Director of Data Services for the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, made a presentation last week in Hingham that included questions for the town moving forward and data points on housing, demographics and land value.

The South Shore could gain 9,500 jobs this decade. Hingham could add 1,000 of those, especially in retail and service areas. The town's commercial develop capacity is five million square feet of non-residential space, accommodating as many as 12,000 jobs, according to the MAPC.

For particular areas of Hingham, Reardon showed the preferences for future development. What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.
