Help Hingham Historical Commission Public 'Bucket Town' Book

The book documents the history of toy-making and coopering in Hingham

The Hingham Historical Commission is seeking donations to help it publish a book on toy-making and coopering in Hingham.

From the town's notice:

In Bucket Town: Wooden Ware & Wooden Toys of Hingham, Massachusetts, 1635-1945, author Derin Bray documents the history of toy-making and coopering in Hingham, widely known as Bucket Town.

Although Hingham was the woodenware capital of the colonies and the country from the 17th through the 19th centuries, little was known about this industry - until now. This ground-breaking and richly illustrated book has already attracted the attention of Old Sturbridge Village and collectors nationwide.

The Hingham Historical Commission will publish this first book on Hingham's woodenware industry, but your help is needed to bring the project to fruition. Thus far $50,000 has been raised, but an additional $100,000 is needed to cover printing and publication costs.

Your donation will help publish the story of an industry significant not only to Hingham, but to the developing nation. In appreciation, your name will be printed in the list of donors in the book.

Thank you for supporting the Bucket Town project!
