The deadline for submitting nominating paperwork in Hingham's 2014 Annual Town Election is still two months away, but a few local candidates have gotten a head start.
Nomination papers are now available at the Town Clerk's office. Fifty signatures of registered voters are required to get on the ballot, and the deadline to hand in the paperwork is 5 p.m. on March 13, 2014.
As of Wednesday morning, two incumbent officials and one challenger had pulled papers.
Jonathan Asher of 5 Common St. is seeking the three-year term being left open by Selectman Bruce Rabuffo, who decided last year not to seek re-election.
Stuart Gregory Hall, a member of the Board of Assessors, has pulled paperwork to regain a three-year term, as has Walter B. Sullivan of the Planning Board (five years).
The following elected officials also have terms expiring this year:
Michael J. Puzo, Moderator, one year
Stephan J. White, Board of Health, three years
John Ryan, Municipal Light Board, three years
Carol M. Falvey, School Committee, three years
Edward J. Schreier, School Committee, three years
