Hingham Holding Special Memorial Day Event
Quincy native Sgt. Thomas M. Lester will be the ceremony's principal speaker.
HINGHAM, MA — The Town of Hingham is holding a special ceremony on May 30, Memorial Day, to honor those who have died in military service.
Michael Puzo, the town moderator, will kick off the ceremony at 11 a.m. outside Hingham Town Hall before the principal speaker, Sgt. Thomas M. Lester, takes the stand, a press release said.
Sgt. Lester was born and raised in Quincy before enlisting in the U.S. Army as a 68W, Combat Medic right after graduating college. He was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel, and later earned the coveted Ranger Tab at Fort Benning.

He was honorably discharged from the Army this year after five years of service.
After the ceremony, veterans and their families are invited to a complementary lunch at the Grand Army Memorial Hall.

Seating at the ceremony will be limited, so the town is asking residents who want to attend to bring their own chairs.
