Hingham Officials Warn of Medicare Scam
Medicare will never call you to ask for personal information.

The Hingham Senior Center is warning residents to beware of a fraudulent phone call requesting personal information for a new Medicare card.
The Hingham Police Department sent out the warning Tuesday morning because the scam has been reported in Massachusetts, though no Hingham victims have been reported.
"This scam involved a senior citizen who received a phone call from a person claiming to be a Medicare employee," HPD reported. The 'employee' said Medicare was sending out new cards and asked for their personal information. The senior citizen provided their banking information and became a victim of check fraud.
"In addition, several other seniors at the same bank also became victims.
"Remember, to never give out or confirm any of your personal information, your Medicare number, or banking account information to anyone on the phone unless you initiated the call.
"Medicare will never call you to ask for personal information.
