Hingham Students Back to School (Again), Marijuana Dispensary Hearing

Monday Essentials: What's going on this week in Hingham.

Hingham Public Schools students are back in school again Monday, Jan. 6 after winter vacation and one day in school, buffeted by last week's storm, which cancelled Friday classes.

Among the Planning Board's business at Town Hall Monday evening is a public hearing on medical marijuana dispensaries at 7 p.m. The board will take up the following:

"ARTICLE 2:  Will the Town amend the Zoning By-law of the Town of Hingham, adopted March 10, 1941, as heretofore amended by inserting “Registered Marijuana Dispensary” in Section III-A Schedule of Uses as a use allowed by special permit A2 in certain zoning district(s), and replace the moratorium adopted as Section V-H by the 2013 Annual Town Meeting with a new Section V-H entitled “Registered Marijuana Dispensaries” (“RMDs”) to regulate the application for, siting of, and operations of RMDs, or act on anything related thereto?"
