Hingham Teen Facing Charges Over Lockdown

Numerous police officers responded to the scene Oct. 10 at Foster School in Hingham.

A 13-year-old boy who had an air soft gun behind Foster School last week, prompting a brief lockdown, now faces several charges.

The Boston Herald reported Monday that the teen will be charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds, being a minor in possession of a BB gun and disorderly conduct.

The lockdown – put into effect for less than 30 minutes when the school notified police Thursday that a man with a ski mask was possibly carrying a gun – was lifted after officers discovered the boy with a group of youths on a nearby street.

Regular dismissal had already occurred by then, but the school still contained small groups of students and staff in after school programs.

The boy was turned over to his parents and an investigation is ongoing.
