Kate Spade Opening in Hingham Next Week

A women's clothing shop moves in, while a sports apparel store moves out.

Kate Spade New York, a women’s handbag, clothing jewelry and accessories store will open at the Derby Street Shoppes Friday, Nov. 15.

The 3,400-square-foot retailer, moving into the space formerly occupied by sports apparel store Roster, will be next to Sprint and adjacent to Whole Foods.

Kate Spade New York has more than 80 locations across the country including one on Newbury Street, the Mall at Chestnut Hill and at the Wrentham Outlets. The Hingham location will be the fourth in Massachusetts.

“We’re delighted to be welcoming this luxury brand to our shopping center,” Carolyn Kennedy, General Manager for the Derby Street Shoppes, said in a press release.

“With the recent openings of high-end women’s retailers at the center, and now with Kate Spade, we’re starting to attract new customers to the area, who don’t have these stores available to them in suburban locations.”

Kate Spade's opening comes on the heels of several other stores that have opened at Derby Street in the last year, including Lulabelle, a boutique lingerie shop; Hot Mama, a women’s clothing store; Legal C Bar, a contemporary twist on the Legal Sea Foods restaurants; a Charles Schwab branch; and Chris’ Burch’s lifestyle brand, C. Wonder.
