Man With Chainsaw Dangled 2 Children Near Window In Cohasset: Police

The suspect was booked on multiple charges Sunday, including assault with a dangerous weapon and child endangerment.

COHASSET, MA — A man has been arrested after storming a police station armed with a chainsaw before fleeing to his home and dangling two small children in front of a second-story window, Cohasset police said Sunday.

The man, identified as 35-year-old Brien Buckley, of Cohasset, first entered the police station with a gas-powered chainsaw after driving over its lawn and hitting a tree with his truck. He began to use the chainsaw to damage the station's lobby, including the security door of a restricted area and multiple mail packages, police said.

He then fled in his truck, police said.

He was later tracked at his home in the 30 block of Cushing Road, where he began yelling at officers from inside the home before dangling two young children in front of the window, according to police.

After an hourslong negotiation, officials say they entered the home out of concern for the children's safety.

Buckley is being held without bail and is set to be arraigned in Quincy Monday morning.
