Man Who Ran Scituate Daycare Arraigned In Second Child Rape Case

SCITUATE, MA — A Scituate man has pleaded not guilty to several sexual assault charges involving a child for the second time, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said Friday.

Thomas Bleakney, 52, who used to co-run the in-home, state-licensed daycare, "The Kid's Place," in Scituate, pleaded not guilty to aggravated rape of a child and multiple accounts of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14, Cruz said.

Bleakney was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet, stay away from the victim, and have no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16. He was also ordered to pay a $10,000 cash bail, Cruz said.

After a mandated reporter contacted Scituate police in January about allegations against Bleakney made by the victim, the police department took out complaints charging him for indecent assault of a child, the DA's Office said.

Bleakney voluntarily turned himself in to police and was arraigned on those charges in Hingham District Court.

In August 2021, Bleakney pleaded not guilty to one count of rape of a child in Brockton Superior Court. The indictment says that from 2004-2006, Bleakney raped the victim who was a child.

Bleakney co-operated "The Kid's Place," from 2000 to 2015.

Bleakney is expected to appear in court on April 7, 2022.
