Ralph's Wines and Spirits Moves to New Location on Route 3A

Ralph's Wines and Spirits has moved from Derby Street Shoppes to 211 Lincoln Street.

The doors of Ralph's Wines and Spirits' new location at Anchor Plaza on Route 3A are now open. The family-owned business moved from Derby Street Shoppes to a store twice the size that was formerly occupied by Eastern Mountain Sports.

Ralph's offers more than 900 kinds of wine, including 60 organic wines and over 300 types of craft beer. The wine selection features a private label collection that includes chardonnay, pinot noir, zinfandel and cabernet sauvignon.

Brothers Ralph and Rick Hersom own the shop and Ralph's wife Kim Savage, a personal chef, will teach classes out of the new kitchen in the store.

"It's truly a family business," said Ralph Hersom, a world-class sommelier.

With his wine knowledge and her culinary expertise, the couple will lead Corks and Forks classes that combine a cooking demonstration and wine pairing. The classes, which can be attended by up to 14 people, vary in price depending on the subject. Past classes include wine and cheese pairings, Thanksgiving and wines of Italy.

The store will hold tastings each weekend with craft beer tastings Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m. and wine tastings from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. The tastings will begin this weekend.

Between the tastings, classes and knowledgable staff, Hersom is focused on educating his customers.

"My passion is wine and I like to share my passion with customers," said Hersom.

Besides the size increase, the new location offers plenty of parking. The other businesses in Anchor Plaza also present an interested clientele. The store is flanked by Planet Fitness and Crossfit Bare Cove. Many crossfit participants eat a paleo diet, which suggests red wine and tequila as the best alcohol options.

Hersom is happy to still be in Hingham "It's a wonderful town and a great demographic," Hersom said.

Ralph's Wines and Spirits, 211 Lincoln Street, is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information visit ralphswinesandspirits.com or call 781-749-WINE (9463).
