1. The Board of Selectmen meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
Among the agenda items are budget reviews for the fire department, elder services and the assessors. See the complete agenda here.
2. The Cultural Council meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall to award grants for 2014.
3. Hingham Public Library hosts Babies, Books, & Play from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Story Telling Room.
4. It's a big turnaround Thursday, weather-wise. The National Weather Service is predicting a sunny day with a high near 40 degrees. Plenty of that snow and ice should melt. Thursday night will likely be cloudy with a low around 34.
5. On this day in 1732, Benjamin Franklin began publishing Poor Richard's Almanac. It was printed yearly for 26 years and consisted of a calendar, weather, poems, astrological information and, of course, its famous sayings. Here's a resonate one: "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
