New Hingham Shipyard Pizza Restaurant to Open This Week
The sixth location of Stone Hearth Pizza Co., 19 Shipyard Drive, is slated to open Wednesday.

Pizza is making a return to the Hingham Shipyard on May 1. Stone Hearth Pizza Co. will begin serving it's Neapolitan style, thin crust pizza made with local, organic ingredients at 19 Shipyard Drive on Wednesday.
Stone Hearth Pizza, which has locations in Allston, Belmont, Cambridge, Needham and Winchester, will fill the void left in both the storefront and the pizza category when Pizzapalooza closed two years ago.
Christopher Robbins and Jonathan Schwarz launched the growing business in Belmont in 2005. As they've grown, there has been a demand for a restaurant in the Hingham area.
"I can't tell you how many people, who have visited our other locations are from the South Shore," Robbins said.
The premium pizzas will fit nicely into the landscape at the Hingham Shipyard, Robbins believes. The "family-friendly and date-night-friendly" restaurant will have prices comparable to Wahlburgers and Hingham Beerworks.
"It's a nice mix for the development," said Robbins.
The menu, created by Chef and General Manager Michael Ehlenfeldt will feature unique 9-16 inch pizzas as well as salads and pasta dishes. The appetizer menu features several hits, including the meatball poppers, mozzarella stuffed beef served in a sauce.
"We try to put a little 'Stone Hearth' on everything we do," said Robbins.
Sone Hearth Pizza Co. will bring something else not currently found in the Shipyard: ice cream. Robbins said they will serve eight to 10 flavors.
