Talbots Sample Sale Benefits Red Cross
The first Talbots store opened in Hingham in 1950.

Women's retailer Talbots is hosting a sample sale at its Hingham headquarters this Saturday and Sunday to benefit Red Cross Disaster Relief.
Talbots has helped the Red Cross a number of times in the past, spokeswoman Betsy D. Thompson said, and has a strong connection to the non-profit.
Nancy Orr, who founded Talbots with her husband in Hingham in 1947, was in the American Red Cross during World War II. She met Hingham native Captain Rudolf Talbot overseas during the war, Thompson said.
The sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at One Talbots Drive, off Route 3A. Use 175 Beal St. as the address if using a GPS.
All money raised goes to Red Cross Disaster Relief.
"You can support people affected by disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, floods or other crises by making a gift, through your purchases, to American Red Cross
Disaster Relief," according to a press release.
"Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small. Please note that purchases at the sale are not tax deductible."
