5 Things: Apple Picking, Celebrate Holliston

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. Celebrate Holliston: Tomorrow is the big day! The parade starts at 9 a.m. at the Placentino School, and the field day events start at 10 a.m. at Goodwill Park. Enter in the Pumpkin Decorating Contest, try the chili and listen to some local music. Patch Editors including Sean O'Donnell and Justin Saglio will be around taking pictures, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take your own. There will be a contribution gallery on the site around mid-day Saturday and a full gallery on Monday morning.

2. Help Project Just Because: Winter can be the hardest time of the year and as it approaches Project Just Because gets more and more requests for help. Warm clothing, school supplies and food donations are always needed. To find out how you can help check out the announcements page.

3. Mission Possible 5K: Holliston's Mission Possible has announced that their upcoming 5K will take place at Holliston High School on Nov. 4. The proceeds from the event will go to the Fred W. Miller School Playground Committee to raise money to build a new playground.
