5 Things: ESL Classes, National Night Out
Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations

1. Learn English This Fall: of Hopkinton will be offering conversational English as a second language classes during a twelve-week period this fall. There will be an afternoon class on Tuesdays beginning at noon and an evening class on Tuesdays beginning at 7 p.m. from Sept. 18 to Nov. 20. The classes are free but registration is required. Please register with Laurel at lcoolbaugh@aol.com, and be sure to designate with your registration afternoon or evening class.
2. Police Meet and Greet Holliston Residents: The  met with residents at Goodwill Park last night as part of the National Night Out program. "The whole idea is to build community involvement," patrolman Matthew Waugh said. "We use this event as a chance to get out there, shake hands, meet people, see if they have any problems and see if we can build lasting relationships."
Also last night at Goodwill Park was the final Summer Concert Series performance by Blackwell.

3. Kids Learn to Identify Trees: Ever wonder what that tree is in your backyard? . Then, take a walking trip through the vast selection of ornamental, fruit, and shade trees at . This program is intended for kids in grades 1 through 3 and begins at 10 a.m.
4. Vendors Wanted for Harvest Fair: The  is seeking artists, crafters and antiques dealers for its  to be held on Sunday, Sept. 16th (rain date September 23rd) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Asa Whiting House. All of the spaces for jewelry makers are filled, but space for other crafters or artisans is still available.

5. Olympic Medal Count: China still leads the USA in overall medals by 3 (73-70) with Great Britain and Russia tied for third with 48 each. Last night's big wins for the United States came from Aly Raisman who took gold in floor routine and bronze on the balance beam. With track and field competitions underway, look for American athletes to keep the count climbing. Yesterday we got four silvers and a bronze from our athletes on the track.
