5 Things: Fall Sports, Inmates and Canines

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. Canines for Convicts: has been working to place dogs from Luther Luckett Correctional Complex's  in to loving homes. Oscar, a young bearded collie, and Sammy, a young black lab are both currently being cared for at Greyhound Friends. Many of these dogs are certified as "companion animals" once they leave the program which make them extremely desirable dogs.

2. Selectmen to Discuss Goals: The  will be meeting tonight about what their objectives are for the near future. The discussion is expected to encompass many aspects of town so be sure to look for a report on Patch in the morning newsletter.

3. Fall Sport Seasons Begin Soon: With the new school year comes a new year of school sports. We want your help with our coverage of the local teams. If you're going to the games as a spectator, coach or player we want to hear about it. Send us your pictures or game reports and we will run them in our sports round up.

4. Water Main Flushing on Front Street: Tonight the Hopkinton Water Department will be working to bring the Alprilla Farm wells online. They will begin  tonight. Be sure to check your water if you live in the area and run your water if it is discolored.
