5 Things: New Sergeant Sworn In, USA Leads Medal Race
Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. New Sergeant Sworn in: Last night during the meeting Holliston Police Detective David Gatchell was sworn in as Sergeant. Gatchell was serving as the School Resource Officer recently. “Dave is going to serve the town well and we’re excited to have him as sergeant,” selectmen Jay Leary said.
2. Help Needed at Arts Center: The is looking for help as the summer comes to an end. The positions most needed are for office work, grounds keeping, theater production and events. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer you can learn more by emailing info@hopartscenter.org.
3. Blackwell Rocks Goodwill Park: Did you see the video of from Tuesday night? If you didn’t check it out because it got a great response on the site and on Facebook. .

4. USA Leads Medal Count: Athletes from the United States picked up the pace yesterday and gave us a four-medal lead over China (81-77). We’re still two behind in the gold medal race, but with several days of competition left anything can happen. Yesterday home-country athletes picked up two bronze, two silver and three gold medals in track and field alone. Don’t forget the women’s beach volleyball match which was won by veterans Misty May-Treanor and Keri Walsh-Jennings over Jennifer Kessy and Rachel Ross two sets to none securing a gold and a silver.
