5 Things: Relay for Life, Sean Bielat in Hopkinton

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. Sean Bielat Visits Hopkinton: Bielat has had a busy few days, participating in a and a last night, and he isn't stopping. Tonight Bielat will be at  from 6 to 7 p.m. to meet with voters and discuss the issues that matter to them.

2. Relay for Life Hopkinton: Don't forget about our $50 challenge! Each team that raises $50 or more from Aug. 8 to Aug. 18 will be entered to win one of several prizes, including first campsite selection & VIP parking for the 2013 Relay, a basket of Relay goodies, or a pizza party for your team on the date of your choice. And the team that raises the most money during that time will receive FREE registration for next year's Relay! 5 days left.. that's just $10 a day. Help us reach our goal! 3. Dykema Hosts Senior Picnic: From noon to 2 p.m. Rep. Carolyn Dykema will be at the  to meet with area senior citizens and talk to them about the issues that impact their lives.

4. Fresh Air Fund: Thirty-seven New York City children will be arriving in Marlborough today. Volunteer host families, including one from Holliston, share their summers for up to two weeks with Fresh Air children, ages six to 18, who leave behind the city streets to run barefoot in the grass or see the stars at night. Some youngsters are leaving home for the first time, while others are returning to visit the same host families for consecutive summers.
