5 Things: Vote Today, Sugar Plum Fairies

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. Vote Today: Today from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. polls in Hopkinton and Holliston will be open to voters for the primaries. Voters who have designated a party on their registration can vote for who will move on to face challengers from the other parties in November. Voters in Holliston will be voting at ; voters from Hopkinton will be voting at 

2. Dancers Wanted: Are you a sugar plum fairy? How about a nutcracker? The in Holliston is looking for non-dancers and dancers ages 5 1/2 to adult to audition for parts in The Nutcracker on Saturday, Sept 15th. Info meeting at 2:30 p.m., auditions will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

3. They Call Him Burger Master: Hopkinton resident Greg McClure has been named among the top five contestants in Luxe Burger Bar’s 2nd Annual Build Your Own Burger contest. More than 200 people submitted recipes to be crowned Best Burger of 2012. Greg’s burger, the “Fire from the Gods Burger,” features lean turkey, goat cheese, baby lettuce, caramelized onions, smoked bacon, grilled fennel, peppadew-garlic aioli on a sesame seed bun. 4. Repaving Rescheduled: Due to the rain paving has been rescheduled for today and tomorrow if needed. Work will be done on Church Street, Walcott Street, Cedar Street Ext. and part of the St. John’s Cemetery road. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  has asked residents to not park along the sides of the street during the work hours.

5. Share Your Nature Photos: More than a thousand people have already entered Mass Audubon’s 2012 statewide photo contest,  . But time is running out—the deadline to enter photographs is Sept. 30. Hurry and send in your best digital images that highlight the beauty and diversity of Massachusetts’ wildlife, habitats, and people in nature.
