2 Hopkinton residents are honored for service to Massachusetts Medical Society

Two Hopkinton residents, Bruce Karlin, M.D. and James F.X. Kenealy, M.D., have been honored by the Massachusetts Medical Society with its Committee Chair Service Award, an honor recognizing exceptional leadership and service to the Society, the statewide professional association of physicians. They will receive their awards at the Society’s annual meeting in Boston on May 19. 

Dr. Karlin has been recognized for his leadership of the Committee on Bylaws, and Dr. Kenealy for his chairmanship of the Committee on Legislation. Dr. Karlin served on the Bylaws committee for nine years and was chair from 2009-2012. Dr. Kenealy served on the legislation committee for nine years and was chair for four years, from 2008-2012. Both physicians are longtime active members of the state medical society and their respective district medical societies, and both are hosts of the Society’s monthly television program, Physician Focus, produced in collaboration with Hopkinton Community Television, HCAM-TV. 

Dr. Karlin has also served as vice chair of the Communications Committee and is a member of the Committees on Nominations and Quality of Medical Practice, as well as a member of the House of Delegates. He is a past president of the Worcester District Medical Society.

Dr. Kenealy is also a member of the House of Delegates and has served on the Committee on Finance, the Task Force on Liability Reform, the Organized Medical Staff Section, and the Board of Trustees. He has also been a member of the Board of the MMS and Alliance Charitable Foundation.
